This CPD will be presented by Nigel Manning, a Senior Legal Officer and Trevor Hall, a Senior Building Control Surveyor at Leeds City Council.
The presentation will take a detailed look at dangerous structures and legalisation including the roles and responsibilities of the local authority and building owners.
The presentation will cover:
Legal proceedings under Sections 77, 78 and 79 of the Building Act 1984
The duties and powers of the Local Authority
The responsibilities of the owners of the properties
The ramifications and procedures with regards to legal proceedings
Nigel Manning is a Senior Legal Officer at Leeds City Council and has worked for Local Authorities for nearly 20 years, specialising in Debt Recovery and General Litigation. He has assisted Building Control in respect of legal proceedings and has been instrumental in reviewing the Council’s procedures in dealing with dangerous structures.
Trevor Hall is a Senior Building Control Surveyor at Leeds City Council, specialising in dangerous buildings from dilapidated buildings to major gas explosions within buildings. He has a wealth of experience and will be able to answer many of your questions.
