For existing buildings the trainer will take a brief look at the different types of work covered by Part L – renovations, conversions and extensions.
They will also look at a number of examples to explore in more detail the best approaches to compliance depending on the work being undertaken and will touch on issues such as consequential improvements and issues relating to technical and economic viability.
For new buildings some of the major areas that impact on compliance will be talked about and they will look in detail at issues surrounding thermal bridging and air leakage – as these areas are critical to compliance.
Different M and E specifications and heating fuels affect performance by using a series of examples the seminar will explore a number of approaches to compliance for different building types and a look at the latest information on SAP2016 and how this may affect building specifications will also be included.
In the second half of the seminar the links between how Parts L and F affect ventilation strategies for a range of building types will be covered and they will look at a range of different ventilation strategies – including passive, mechanical extract, MVHR and demand controlled – examining the benefits and issues associated with each. Using a series of examples the session will look at how to implement ventilation strategies for a range of building types.
Examples examining the issues that affect performance and how to address these in design and on site wlll be discussed.
