The North West region covers Blackburn, Blackpool, Bolton, Chester, Crewe, Liverpool, Manchester, Oldham, Preston, Stockport, Warrington and Wigan.
The region carries out regular CPD at Newton-le-Willows Fire Station, the regional Centre of Excellence. Seminars have covered Climate and Sustainable Architecture and The Trouble with Trees. As well as learning about the construction of the tunnel, the tour covered a visit to the original control room to see giant ventilation fans in action and watch the traffic in the tunnel, deep below the city streets.
In March 2019 a joint regional conference was held with the Wales region. The location was Wrexham Glyndwr University. Speakers covered building regulations update, CDM regulations, the latest in energy efficiency in buildings, principles of BS8888, fire dampers in HVAC systems, fire safety and sprinklers versus water mist systems.
