The North West region covers Blackburn, Blackpool, Bolton, Chester, Crewe, Liverpool, Manchester, Oldham, Preston, Stockport, Warrington and Wigan.
The region carries out regular CPD at Newton-le-Willows Fire Station, the regional Centre of Excellence. Seminars have covered Climate and Sustainable Architecture and The Trouble with Trees. Recently a tour of the Liverpool Queensway Mersey Tunnel was held for CABE members which consisted of a behind the scenes look at the famous Queensway Mersey Tunnel which opened in 1934.
As well as learning about the construction of the tunnel, the tour covered a visit to the original control room to see giant ventilation fans in action and watch the traffic in the tunnel, deep below the city streets.
In March 2018 a joint regional conference was held with the Wales region. Speakers covered Fire engineering principles, Delivering more homes through small builders, Ground gas protection, Energy efficiency in buildings, Retrofit insulation systems, Single layer insulation systems and an Introduction to structural design in fire safety.
Delegate feedback from the conference: "topics were good and very relevant", "very good speakers and useful subjects".
Our next joint conference will be held on 20th March 2019 and will be held in Wrexham. For more details, see the event page.
