The official launch of the NFCC Specialised Housing Guidance took place on 4th May 2017 at the CFOA Health and Housing Conference in London. The NFCC has provided recommendations designed to protect an estimated three quarters of a million residents of specialised housing from fire.
Its recommendations relate to various forms of sheltered housing, extra care housing, and also supported housing for people with common characteristics, such as learning disabilities and mental health problems. A common factor in the premises to which the guide applies is the ability to facilitate person-centered planning.
One of the key priorities identified was to ensure Fire Services engaged positively with those responsible for NHS and other health and care related premises to support and continue to improve fire safety and risk management where vulnerable people are at risk. the guidance will also address the need to reduce numbers of avoidable incidents that impact on the availability of Fire and Rescue Service resources.
Who's it for?
- Designers, Building Control Professionals and Contractors wishing to gain a greater understanding of the issues
- Those looking to offer effective advice in relation to fire safety
