Following a short introduction on the identification and biology of Japanese Knotweed (JKW) Peter will explain the legislative framework which requires property developers and home owners (especially those undertaking development works) to carefully manage the treatment and/or removal of JKW from their land. The pros and cons of various management plans will be discussed in the context of new research.

Dr Peter Fitzsimons is the Technical Manager at the PCA responsible for all matters relating to Invasive Weeds, especially JKW. He has worked as a research botanist, in the property repair market and has a homeowners interest in the role of biocides in the built environment.
