Jayne Hall, CABE Vice-President was privileged to chat with CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering) President Tracey Richardson, during Tracey’s presidential reception last week.
Jayne was interested to hear about Tracey’s aspirations for a better regulated plumbing and heating industry in the UK.
Earlier in the day Tracy’s speech touched on the concerns about safety of installations in the UK and how the NHS are still recording unacceptably high statistics of scalding, especially in the elderly and young children, despite the introduction of tighter controls in the Building Regulations back in 2006
Tracey is one of just three women who have achieved Master Plumber status and CIPHE are working closely with City & Guilds to develop modern qualifications and how she would like to inspire more young women to enter the profession.
It was agreed that the construction industry is on the brink of some dramatic and exciting changes and with a positive approach the transformation will help build a better world for everyone.
