The winners of the Charted Association of Building Engineers (CABE) Built Environment Awards 2018 were announced at a ceremony held last night as part of the Association’s Annual Conference and Exhibition at Chesford Grange, Warwickshire.
Recognising excellence and achievements within the field of the Built Environment and Building Engineering, the CABE Built Environment Awards 2018 are judged by a panel that comprises industry experts who provide a wealth of knowledge over a wide-ranging field of expertise.
Presented by CABE President David Taylor, the awards covered three key sectors - New Build, Preservation & Conservation, and Fire Safety. The hotly-contested New Build award went to BRD Tech Ltd which was recognised for its outstanding work at Ingrebourne Links Golf and Country Club. In the Preservation and Conversation Award category, NPS Leeds won for its exemplary restoration of the Leeds Central Library & Art Gallery roof, while BB7 picked up the Fire Safety Award for its continuing excellence and pioneering work in fire safety management.
Gold Service Awards were also presented to Isacc Sunder Rajan Packianathan, Chair of CABE’s Malaysian chapter and Ivan Chan, Chair of CABE’s Hong Kong chapter.
Commenting on the awards, Dr Gavin Dunn, CEO of CABE, said: “Congratulations to all the award winners and to all those who were highly commended. Our Built Environment Awards are once again an excellent opportunity to celebrate good practice across our industry.”
More than 170 guests enjoyed a gala dinner followed by a witty and fascinating address by the evening's host, former BBC Chief Political Correspondent, John Sergeant.
Entry to the awards is open to an organisation, individual or project where there has been substantial involvement of a CABE member. The subject of the nomination for the award will have demonstrated a range of Building Engineering skills through invention, research, design, education or other related activity and has produced a leading edge, innovative and exemplary project which was completed in the previous year.
