The growing role the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) is playing in helping to change and improve the construction industry has been celebrated at the organisation’s annual Presidential Luncheon and Inauguration.
The inauguration was held at the House of Lords on Friday 10th May saw over 85 guests attend, hosted by our patron The Earl of Lytton and outgoing President David Taylor. Ant Burd was inaugurated as our new President. Head of Built Environment at BSI, Ant has been a member of CABE since 2002 and joined the presidential team in 2017.
In accepting the new role, Ant spoke about the many challenges the industry is facing and how CABE is playing a pivotal role. As an organisation whose membership spans design, construction, evaluation and maintenance professionals, CABE is in a unique position to provide insight and understanding on how best to manage the entire lifecycle of a building. With the organisation on track to be a full member of the Engineering Council and with eight international chapters – USA, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Macau, Malaysia and Middle East – our reputation amongst regulators, policy makers, decision makers and other institutions continues to grow.
CABE is helping to set the agenda, and it is truly leading by example, commented Ant Burd, CABE President.
“The work we’ve have recently undertaken in the creation a new Code of Professional Conduct, supported by the new Guide to Ethical Professionalism coupled with the upcoming Competency Framework which will apply for all levels of membership, sees us leading by example. It shows how our members are taking clear action on competency to ensure Chartered Building Engineers are professionals that can be relied upon and clearly recognised as such.”
“I am delighted to take up the role of President and extend my thanks to outgoing President David Taylor for all of his hard work and dedication over the past two years. Promoting greater competency; seeking to collaborate in all that we do; and promoting greater diversity within the Industry are the things that I will be pushing forward with, helping to set the collective agenda for our industry.”
