On Monday 26 March 2018, CABE once again, welcomed each CABE regional officer to attend the 2018 Regional Officers Training & Induction Day at HQ, Northampton.
With an extremely busy day planned, each of the regional officers arrived for morning registration and coffee where they were able to meet the staff at HQ. Afterwards, officers made their way to meet with Regional Development Director, Sarah Sivyer, who had set the agenda for the day.
Sarah then opened with the first presentation, highlighting all the regional achievements in 2017. High on the agenda was the ongoing success of the suite of Regional Conferences and CPDs in local areas which continue to raise the profile of the Association whilst increasing member engagement and offering great value for money. This was followed by what the Regional Development Team aim to achieve in 2018, what's new at HQ in terms of resources and the Regional Officers/Regional Committees roles and responsibilities.
With Sarah's first set of session completed, incoming Chief Executive, Dr Gavin Dunn, took to the spotlight to give his Chief Executive Update - An overview on vision for the future of CABE. This presentation addressed various subjects including the outline of the strategic overview and business strategy for the future.
Next to present was Katie Di Stefano, Digital Communications and Internal Systems Specialist, who presented CABE's digital marketing achievements over the last 12 months and how each region can get involved digitally by the use of social platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to help promote activities within their region. Officers then took part in their first workshop to discuss the CABE's vision for raising standards, sharing knowledge, developing professionals and were then able to make their way to lunch.
The afternoon sessions started with a second workshop on 'Building for the Future' where they were able to discuss what they would like to see on membership surveys, what benefits would attract them to join as members and how to enhance member engagement and increase attendance at regional CPD events.
Operations Director, Kate Ilott, then presented an overview of 2018's Annual Conference and Exhibition taking place this October Nr. Kenilworth and reminded the officers of the Built Environment Awards 2018. Following that, Southern Regional Chairman, Michael Wadood, went on to speak about the progress of the CABE Benevolent Fund.
Sarah Sivyer then presented the final presentation - 'Review of Officers Expectations' to find out whether or not these had been met and to use this as a basis, along with all of the days findings to create a strategic regional action plan for the next year.
The day came to a close after some interesting questions and any other business. Thanks was then offered for the collective work completed by the regional network and the HQ team in ensuring we put our members at the forefront of all we do.
"A well-structured event with interactive workshops which made our opinions and feelings heard in terms of shaping the future of our Association"
"Thank you for a very constructive day"
