After a brief introduction that allowed everyone to become acquainted, the agenda began with an overview of the regional conference programme. Assessing what we currently deliver and how we can improve it going forward, there was fantastic insight from all regions and the next round of regional conferences are sure to be improved as a result.
Following on from this CABE CEO Dr. Gavin Dunn provided a strategic overview, including an update on the Engineering Council and an overview of CABE’s business plan. Our Technical Director Richard Harral then invited feedback from the regional officers on the new CABE competency framework, code of conduct and professional standards that are being introduced later in the year.
Next up were updates on two of HQ’s major projects: our forthcoming rebrand and increasing our digital functionality. While we can’t mention much about either publicly, the current plans were very well received and generated much excitement around the room.
The day was rounded off with some engaging workshops on the ‘Professionals of the Future’, covering topics such as soft skills training, what is meaningful CPD and diversity. The results were very informative and will influence CABE’s strategies in these areas going forward as we continue on our transformative journey.
