An interesting event for the seven members there, with many questions about the challenges of building so close to the sea.
Frank Miller, Building Engineer for the Borough of Poole, outlined the project from the outset to the finished job. Working on a popular (even at this time of year) live public site is always a challenge on jobs such as these, and ensuring access for the crane to lift the new pods into position, from the articulated lorry used to transport them to site, was a delicate process. The Bournemouth to Poole Beach Train schedule also had to be maintained throughout the schedule of work. The stone beach sculptures form an impressive part of the design and finish off the landscaped area.
We were fortunate that the weather was like a summer’s evening for the location, and it was an informative evening for all.
