AQS AND PANTON MCLEOD LAUNCH PARTNERSHIP

P&S June 17AQS Environmental Solutions is working in partnership with UK water quality engineering specialist, Panton McLeod, to deliver innovative clean water solutions in Ireland.The partnership provides clean water suppliers with faster, more cost-effective and safer methodologies for surveying, cleaning and repairing reservoirs and clean water pipelines.It gives clean water suppliers access to Panton McLeod's PM88 system that allows reservoirs to be cleaned and returned to service quickly and safely, as well as removing the risk of cryptosporidium contamination.The PM88 system has been used to clean a 100-megalitre reservoir in the Dublin area, with the project completed in two weeks, compared with the six weeks it would have taken conventional mechanical cleaning.

ADVANCED AXIS EN SYSTEM PROTECTS STUDENTS AT SOFIA UNIVERSITY  P&S June 17

An industry-leading fire system from Advanced has been selected to protect the world-renowned Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at Bulgaria’s Sofia University. A recent upgrade of the fire systems at the Faculty was specified and installed by long-time Advanced partner, FireTech Engineering Ltd. Advanced Axis EN panels were installed in the building at the core of a network that includes smoke detectors, call point and a conventional zone module.In total, 491 field devices, including photoelectric smoke detectors, wall sounders and call points have been installed at the Faculty on a high-speed panel network. The system has been designed so it can be expanded and upgraded as needed in the future.

GAME SET AND MATCH FOR WIMBLEDON COURT NO.1P&S June 17

Award-winning innovators in light gauge steel, EOS Facades, were appointed to design and manufacture a new open/close roofing solution for Court No.1 at Wimbledon Tennis & Croquet Club. The bespoke roofing system will provide protection for players and 26,500 spectators, minimising disruption and reducing potential loss of income during inclement weather. EOS designed two walls to envelop the entire circumference of Court No 1. The inner wall was completed in April, and the outer wall is scheduled for construction later this year following the 2017 Championships.The project was entered in to the 2017 Offsite Construction Awards – Best Use of Steel category which will take place on 13 June in London.

LUCIDEON RELEASES NEW OFFSITE CONSTRUCTION TESTING WHITE PAPER

SHEFFIELD’S TALLEST BUILDING UPGRADED WITH AVIRE LCD DISPLAYSP&S June 17

Residents of the tallest building in Sheffield have had their lift experience improved thanks to LCD displays from Avire. As part of an ongoing refurbishment programme, Curti Lift Services has completed installation work and all 33 floors of St Paul’s Tower now feature an E-Motive C1L display.The C1L is a colour LCD display which supports picture and text content. The display includes a power-saving feature that turns off the backlight when the lift is in idling mode. The C1L’s slim profile makes it particularly suitable for surface mounting in modernisation projects. The display is available in sizes of 3.5, 4.3, 5.6, 7, 8 and 10.4 inches.

STO SOLUTIONS CHOSEN TO PROTECT MAJOR NEW SCOTTISH HOSPITAL

P&S June 17Some 20,000 square metres of external wall insulation provided by Sto Ltd, has been used on the largest new hospital campus in Europe, along with a range of different Sto render finishes. The Sto products have been used to clad sections of the new 1,677-bed Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus, in Glasgow’s Govan district.The StoTherm Vario M system was applied to a supporting rail framework, creating a drainage cavity which provides the wall structure with a secondary line of defence from the effects of the weather. SYKES PUMPS HELPS GATWICK SCHEME FLY TO AN EARLY FINISHP&S June 17

Sykes Pumps provided six pumps to assist stabilisation works on the banks of the River Mole in West Sussex to prevent the breaching of the embankment of one Gatwick Airport’s run off water ponds.Gatwick Pond E collects run off water from the runway, which is released into the River Mole downstream. Sykes Pumps supplied four 12” Super Wispaset 300 Super Silenced Pumps, in line with contracted Civil engineering specialist, Suttle Projects’, specification, and then a GP80 3” diesel pump and a Super Wispaset 100 4” pump, which were used to address any water seeping through the dam at each end of the work area.

P&S June 17STOKVIS MODUPAK HEATS RAIL DEPOT INSPECTION PITS

The Network Rail Tyseley depot in Birmingham has fulfilled a crucial maintenance role as part of the UK's railway network for many years, with facilities for the overhaul and repair of locomotives. And just as the trains it services have changed over the decades, the depot's own plant and equipment required updating, with an advanced Modupak R40 Series Boiler arrangement from Stokvis Energy Systems now having been installed in place of the redundant Boilers.After site meetings and discussions between Stokvis Energy Systems and Network Rail, the requirements were assessed and the heat load for the new boilers determined. The Stokvis R40 Series Modupak was identified as being the ideal solution.
