NATIONAL TRUST CALLS IN LANES TO HELP KEEP FEET DRY
The National Trust called in Lanes drainage engineers to investigate drainage along one of the most popular walks in the North East of England.
The Long Walk at Gibside, nine miles south east of Newcastle upon Tyne, attracts more than 250,000 visitors a year, and includes an avenue of English oaks.
To ensure that the walk remains open to the public during busy times, the National Trust commissioned Lanes Group’s Newcastle depot to carry out CCTV drainage surveys at key points along its length. The Lanes team used a robotic crawler camera to survey nearly 90 metres of surface water drainage pipe, recording HD-quality CCTV footage of its condition.

UK’s LARGEST 3D PRINTED MASTER PLAN MODEL UNVEILED
The UK’s largest 3D printed master plan model has been unveiled at Barking Riverside, one of Europe’s
largest Brownfield developments which will deliver over 10,800 new homes in East London.
Created by 3D technology specialists, Hobs Studio, the model measures 3.60m x 2.6m x 1m, and incorporates over 1,000 buildings, at a scale of 1:750 – demonstrating the sheer size of this ambitious housing project.
Produced over a four-and-a-half-week period at Hobs Studio, in Central London, the model has been printed on the largest SLA 3D printer in the UK – an iPro 9000 XL, which has a build size of 1500mm x 750mm x 550mm.

HISTORIC EYEMOUTH VENUE PROTECTED BY ADVANCED PANELS
An intelligent fire system from Advanced has been chosen to protect The Hippodrome arts centre, a newly
opened community hub housed in an historic listed building in Eyemouth.
Opened in 2016, The Hippodrome provides a much-needed arts centre and performance space for the local community. The landmark 1830s building was originally a granary and went through various uses, most recently as a Fisherman’s Mission, before closing in 2012.

Polypipe Terrain has helped provide City of London office occupiers with a state-of-the-art roof garden, improving the outlook for hundreds of employees.
Polypipe Terrain worked with acclaimed landscape architects, Gustafson Porter + Bowman, to design, manufacture and install a hard, landscaped roof for the building. It was crucial that the plans included a stormwater management solution and attenuation system, for which Polypipe’s Permavoid was specified. The result was a permeable surface with aluminium detailing, with Permavoid tanked in a membrane to manage and control stormwater run-off, which delivered the green roof surrounding that office workers are enjoying today.

P C HENDERSON’S STERLING 8000 DOOR HARDWARE INSTALLED AT AFGHANISTAN MILITARY BASE
Road and Roof Construction Company (RRCC), a prime contractor for US Army Corps of Engineers in Afghanistan, recently specified P C Henderson’s Sterling 8000 industrial sliding door hardware for the repair of an aircraft hangar at Kandahar International Airport, Afghanistan.
16 Sterling 8000 products were used, including 32 top guide rollers. The requirements demanded that the top guide rollers were horizontal, each with a single or double steel roller, of suitable diameter and thickness, for optimum performance under the designated load conditions. It was also important that the product had
permanently lubricated bearings, was made from stainless steel and was easily removable for cleaning to keep the product in optimum condition.
SOLIHULL DEVELOPMENT SEES FIRST UK INSTALLATION OF NEW FLOW CONTROL RANGE
The Ipswich Walk development in Chelmsley Wood, Solihull, will be home to a new flow control product from one of Europe’s largest producers of plumbing brassware and radiator valves, which is being installed for the first time in the UK.
The £2 million construction project is creating 21 housing units to provide temporary accommodation facilities.
