JAGUAR LAND ROVER SELECTS E-SERIES CHILLERS FOR ITS ENERGY EFFICIENT COOLING SYSTEM P&S Sep 2018

A new Mitsubishi Electric e-series chiller system has been chosen for Jaguar Land Rover’s principal design facility. The new system was brought in as part of a major refurbishment with the overriding aim of improving on the energy efficiency of the old system. Chiller systems have been used to deliver controlled cooling to buildings for decades but, with an increasing focus on energy efficiency and running costs, Mitsubishi Electric developed its e-series modular chiller to provide a low-carbon, cost-effective option. Its unique modular approach allows up to six individual units to be connected, providing a system capacity from 90kW to 540kW. This approach reduces space requirements and simplifies lifting and installation.

KFC DEPLOYS MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC FOR HEAT RECOVERY AIR CONDITIONING

P&S Sep 2018When KFC was looking to transform a Burger King outlet in Banbury, they needed an installer that could match the tight installation timeframe and an air conditioning system that could bring 21st Century levels of efficiency, comfort and control. It was clear the building desperately required a complete overhaul and switching the standard split type air conditioning system to a VRF heat recovery system from Mitsubishi Electric was an ideal starting point. The Mitsubishi Electric City Multi VRF heat recovery system offers simultaneous heating and cooling, distributing surplus heat from cooling operations to other areas of the building when and where it is required.

CULVERT CLEARANCE PROVES WATER JETTING PRODUCTIVITY AND SAFETY CREDENTIALSP&S Sep 2018

Drainage engineers from Lanes Group plc demonstrated the power of water jetting when deployed to clear silt, rubble, and boulders from large-diameter railway culverts. Drainage operatives from the company's Manchester depot removed 25 tonnes of material from a 30-metre-long culvert under the railway line at Atherton in just 20 hours. Most of the material was removed from the 1400mm tall and 1200mm wide brick-lined egg-shaped culvert with water jetting delivered by a JHL 414 RECycler jet vac tanker, enhancing safety and productivity. The water jet even brought larger stones, up to 300mm in diameter, towards the mouth of the culvert, where they could then be removed by hand.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE WITH MARSH'S DEGRILLEUR

P&S Sep 2018Marsh Industries now offers a range of Degrilleur trash barriers for pump chambers and sewage treatment plants. The Degrilleur units quickly pay for themselves by preventing blockages and possible plant failure or flooding caused by non-dissolvable items being flushed into the system. Degrilleur is a bar screen which, when positioned ahead of the system's inlet, prevents debris from entering and pushes it to the top of the chamber where it is stored in a collection chamber until it can be cleared and disposed of appropriately via the unit's manhole cover. This simple mechanical process involves no moving parts so the Marsh Degrilleur units are maintenance-free and totally reliable in operation.
