Gordon has been nominated for his range of experience within both the public and private sectors in Building Surveying and Project Design and Management and has been actively involved with the Association’s operation in Ireland for a number of years.

Gordon Henderson is the Principal Building Surveyor in his building surveying practice of G.R. Henderson and Associates, set up in 1989, which provides Building Surveying, Design and Project Management Services to clients throughout Ireland and the UK  with an office in North County Dublin.

Gordon commenced his career by studying at the College of Technology, Bolton Street, Dublin 1 in Building Technology (HND) and progressed through the IAAS Examination Structure in Building Surveying, qualifying in 1977.

He commenced his career working in London for Richard Seifert and Partners, Architects, in Building Surveying and Project Management, mainly on projects for an oil company’s property portfolio throughout the UK and then moved to Calder Ashby and Co, Building Surveyors, working as a Building Surveyor and Project Manager on a variety of  projects for the London Boroughs of Southwark, Wandsworth and Lewisham and private clients.

On returning to Ireland in 1978 Gordon joined the Quantity Surveying Department of  Dublin Corporation and then moved to the private sector as a Building Surveyor and Project Manager for MEPC (Ireland) and the Bank of Ireland Premises Division in Galway, before the formation of his own practice in 1989.

Gordon developed his practice under the name of G.R. Henderson and Associates in Building Surveying, Building Engineering and Project Management and the practice has carried out a wide variety of commercial, industrial and residential building projects in Ireland and the United Kingdom and all services related to a Building Surveying and Project Management practice are provided to private, commercial and public sector clients. 

Gordon is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers, a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, a former Chairman of the Irish Branch and Council Member. He has been involved in many consultative processes which took place between the Irish Government and IAAS / ABE/ CABE over the years including the review of Copyright Legislation, ABE Representative on the Taoiseach’s Task Force for Construction Industry Initiatives and ABE/CABE negotiations relating to the Registration of Architects, Building Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors and subsequent submissions to the Department of the Environment on amendments to the Building Regulations.  

Gordon is very committed to the Building Surveying and Building Engineering profession which includes the CABE’s objectives in the UK, Ireland and Internationally and wishes to be involved in the further development of the CABE’s profile and to contribute to the continuing development of the professions domestically and internationally.
