Presentation : Woodworm Infestation and Fungal Decay This CPD will focus on the different types of wood boring insects that are affecting properties across the UK. Looking into different types of woodworm beetles, the lifecycle of woodworm and the importance of carrying out identification. Treatments an solutions will also be covered. Jason is a highly experienced surveyor specializing in timber defects, damp, dry and wet rot and structural waterproofing for residential and commercial properties. He began his career in 1991 as a technician and progressed to become a qualified remedial surveyor. In 2013 Timberwise appointed him to manage projects across West London, Oxfordshire and Berkshire.
Jason's extensive hands-on experience gives him deep insight into property preservation challenges. After serving as National Waterproofing Manager he moved into business development, combining technical expertise with a strong focus on client satisfaction. Now Chairman of the PCA Structural Waterproofing Steering Group, Jason continues to lead in the industry. Having consulted with over 11,000clients, he is known for delivering effective, lasting solutions and upholding Timberwise's high standards in every project.

Abigail is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and an APM Accredited Project Manager with over a decade of experience leading complex, multidisciplinary construction projects. She heads up Bailey Partnership’s Chichester office and South Coast Project Management team, with a particular focus on façade remediation and fire safety compliance across residential and public-sector estates.
As Chair of Bailey Partnership’s EDI Committee and a core member of the Training & Development Committee, Abigail is passionate about inclusive leadership, team development, and knowledge sharing. She actively contributes to industry-wide conversations around mental health, equity, and professional growth. Abigail also serves as Vice-Chair of Governors at three local authority nursery schools, reflecting her commitment to community and public services."

Building Safety Act: An update on progress This presentation will look at the key lessons that need to be learnt, what Government has said it will do and explore the longer term implications of those actions for Building Engineers and the Construction Industry. Dr Hywel Davies is an independent expert in building safety regulation and building performance and is Head of Technical Insights for the Chartered Association of Building Engineers on a part time basis. In recent years his work has focussed particularly on Building Regulations and building safety reform, on construction product testing, certification and regulation. He has also worked extensively on ventilation and health risks in buildings and on net zero buildings. He has been closely involved in the development of the new building safety regime and its practical implementation, in particular leading the working group that developed the recent CLC guidance on the Golden Thread. He chaired the expert group review of the Approved Documents which contributed to Dame Judith Hackitt’s independent review and he was a contributor to the Morrell Day review of construction products and testing. He is a member of the Building Advisory Committee of the Building Safety Regulator. He is closely involved in development of British, European and International standards for digital information management and data exchange, chairing the BSI committee.
